Reddit is back in Vibewatch, and the second attempt is much simpler

The Reddit logo and the Vibewatch mark joined by a teal plus sign, above the headline "Reddit, in your weekly report." and the line "Up to five subreddits. Posts and comments, scored."

Vibewatch now works with Reddit. Name a subreddit and Vibewatch collects its posts and comments, scores each one for sentiment and relevance, and files them in the same daily highlights and the same weekly report as your Discord server and your Telegram groups.

We've been running this integration in open beta with existing customers for past two weeks. Subreddits vary enormously in size and pace, and we wanted collection to hold up on a few real ones before saying any of this out loud.

We've been working toward a proper Reddit integration for months, but were never able to find a viable option for an organization of our size. And one of the best things about this integration is what it doesn't ask for: nothing gets installed in your subreddit, and no moderator has to approve anything.

What it reads

  • Up to five subreddits per organization, named by you.
  • Posts and comments, not posts alone. Most of what a community actually says on Reddit is in the comments.
  • Reply context on every comment. Each comment is stored with the id of the exact thing it answered, the post or another comment, so a reply is scored against what the person was replying to rather than against the thread in general. This is the same context discipline described in how Vibewatch contextualizes every message.
  • An optional flair filter runs per subreddit: take every post, or only the flairs you pick. The flair list is sampled from recent posts in that subreddit, so you are choosing from flairs it uses rather than typing them in from memory.
  • Connecting pulls four days of history, so there is something to read before the first scheduled sync.
  • Reddit support is available on every plan including the trial, with a generous request budget that scales by tier. If that budget does run out, only Reddit pauses, and your other sources keep collecting.

Setup is Settings, then Integrations, then Reddit. Type the subreddit and press Connect; yourproject, r/YourProject and a full reddit.com link all resolve to the same thing. There is no sign-in, the same as our X integration: no token to create, no OAuth screen, and no app to install on Reddit's side.

What it still does not do

  • No keyword search across Reddit as a whole. This integration is designed to monitor specific communities, and only the subreddits you input will be monitored. A post or comment about your org in a random subreddit won't be surfaced.
  • New comments on posts older than three days are not collected. A thread that reignites a week after it was posted will not bring its new comments in.
  • Nested "continue this thread" branches are not followed below the top level of a comment tree.

Those are limits of the collection path rather than bugs, and they are written down here because you should know them before you decide this covers your Reddit.

A subreddit is not a chat room

Reddit behaves much more like a Discourse forum than like a chat channel: slower, more deliberate, and threaded, where a single post can collect a week of argument underneath it. That is why the reply context matters more here than it does on a fast-moving Discord channel. A comment reading "same here, still broken" means nothing on its own and a great deal underneath an outage post.

The point of reading it inside Vibewatch rather than in a separate Reddit tool is that it stops being a separate report. An outage complaint in your subreddit and an outage complaint in your Discord get the same score on the same scale, land in the same daily highlights, and arrive in one weekly narrative instead of two dashboards somebody has to reconcile on a Monday morning.

And as everywhere else, Vibewatch reads and does not write. The Discord bot asks for the two narrowest permissions it can and never posts; the Reddit source has no write path at all, because it has no account to write with.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to moderate the subreddit to connect it? No. Vibewatch reads public posts and comments. Nothing is installed in the subreddit and no moderator approval is involved.

Posts only, or comments too? Both. Every comment is stored with the exact post or comment it replied to.

How far back does it go when I connect? Four days of posts. Comments are collected on posts from the last three days.

How many subreddits can I track? Five per organization, each with its own optional flair filter.

Is Reddit included on my plan? Yes, on every plan including the trial. Each tier carries a monthly Reddit request budget; when it is spent, Reddit pauses until the next period and your other sources are unaffected.

Does Vibewatch post or reply on Reddit? No. Vibewatch has never posted on any platform, and the Reddit source has no write path and no account to write from.

Reddit is in Settings, then Integrations, now. Add a subreddit and it will be in your next weekly report. The demo org shows the shape of that report, though it has no subreddit connected to it.
