GummySearch Alternatives (2026): What to Use Now

Guide graphic titled "What to use now." A timeline marks GummySearch's November 2025 signup closure and December 2026 shutdown, above replacement tiles by job: Reddit Pro and F5Bot for Reddit research, Octolens, Brand24, and Awario for social listening, and Vibewatch for web3 community sentiment.

Pricing and features verified against each product's own documentation.

GummySearch is gone, and it deserved better. For years it was the best Reddit audience-research tool you could buy: type in a niche, and it surfaced the subreddits, the pain points, and the exact conversations where your future customers were complaining about the problem you solve. Over 135,000 founders and marketers used it.

Then Reddit tightened enforcement of commercial licensing on its Data API. GummySearch couldn't reach an agreement with Reddit for a commercial license, and its founder made the honest call: rather than keep operating under the constant threat of a cease-and-desist, he announced the shutdown in November 2025. New signups closed on November 30, 2025. Existing customers get a transition year, and the product shuts down completely — with all user data deleted — on December 1, 2026.

Nobody built a bad product here. GummySearch died of platform risk, and its builder wound it down with more transparency than most companies manage. But if you relied on it, you need a replacement before the lights go out — and the right one depends on what you actually used GummySearch for.

If you used it for Reddit audience research

This was GummySearch's core job: finding your audience on Reddit, mining pain points, spotting buying conversations. Two honest options, both of which sidestep the licensing problem entirely:

Reddit Pro(free). Reddit's own suite of business tools — keyword and trend tracking, conversation-volume insights, engagement analytics, all inside Reddit itself. It's not as researcher-friendly as GummySearch was, and it's built partly to funnel you toward Reddit ads. But it's free, it's official, and it's the one Reddit tool that can never be killed by Reddit's API terms.

F5Bot(free). A long-running, free service that emails you whenever your keywords appear on Reddit or Hacker News. No dashboard, no sentiment, no context filtering — just fast, reliable alerts, with generous keyword limits. If your GummySearch habit was really "tell me when someone mentions my thing," F5Bot covers it at zero cost.

One caveat worth stating plainly: any third-party tool that reads Reddit data operates under the same commercial-licensing regime that ended GummySearch. Before you commit to a paid Reddit tool, it's fair — prudent, even — to ask the vendor how their Reddit access is licensed. The enterprise tier has started formalizing this (Meltwater, for instance, joined Reddit's official data-partner program in early 2026), and that's the direction the whole market is heading.

If you used it for social listening more broadly

Plenty of GummySearch users were really doing brand monitoring — Reddit just happened to be where their audience talked. If that's you, a multi-platform listener is the better replacement, because you get Reddit and everywhere else.

Octolens— for devtools and B2B SaaS. "Social listening built for developers" is an accurate self-description. It monitors 13+ public platforms — Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Hacker News, GitHub, Stack Overflow, DEV, YouTube, Bluesky, and more — and streams mentions to Slack (hourly refresh at entry; real-time on the $499/mo Scale tier), graded by AI for relevance and tagged by intent (feature request, bug report, competitor mention). If your growth motion is "show up where developers are asking about tools like ours," this is the strongest option. From $159/mo (~$119/mo billed annually), unlimited seats on every plan, 7-day trial.

Brand24— for general brands. The broadest affordable listener: 25M+ online sources spanning social, news, blogs, and forums, including Reddit. It's shipped novel features lately — a GPT-powered Brand Assistant that summarizes and answers questions over your mentions, LLM brand tracking (how ChatGPT, Claude, and others mention your brand), and spoken-mention detection in YouTube videos. One catch to budget for: entry is $249/mo (about $199/mo billed annually), but the AI Brand Assistant and the deeper AI features sit on the Pro tier ($499/mo, $399 annual) and up — the entry plan gets sentiment analysis, not the AI analyst. Not cheap anymore, but capable.

Awario— for tight budgets. Boolean keyword monitoring across Reddit, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and the open web. Standard sentiment tagging, no AI narrative layer. Starter runs $49/mo, or $29/mo billed annually — the closest thing to GummySearch's old price point in the multi-platform tier.

If you used it for community sentiment — especially in web3

If you're a crypto or web3 team and you were using GummySearch to keep a finger on your community's pulse, Vibewatchis the strongest replacement, and we built it for exactly this.

The reasoning is simple. For web3 teams, Reddit was only ever a slice of the conversation. The real signal lives inside your Discord server and your Telegram groups — where holders report bugs, celebrate launches, and quietly turn bearish before they leave. Vibewatch is community intelligence for web3 teams: it joins your Discord and Telegram servers as a bot (with your permission) and reads what's actually being said, alongside X and 8+ other platforms including Farcaster, Lens, Nostr, Snapshot, Discourse, GitHub Discussions, and YouTube. Every message gets a 1–10 sentiment and relevance score calibrated to your project, a correction loop learns from your feedback over time, and instead of a firehose of alerts you get a narrative weekly report: here's what your community said this week. Starting at $19/mo, with a 7-day free trial.

The part that matters most here: Vibewatch doesn't cover Reddit, and we can't promise it ever will. Reddit is cracking down on commercial API licensing, GummySearch is the most visible casualty, and the same wall now sits in front of everyone who touches Reddit data. We're doing our best to secure sanctioned access and comply with Reddit's terms, but we have no assurance we'll get it, and we won't build on unlicensed access to fake it. So if Reddit is your primary channel, don't wait on us: use Reddit Pro or F5Bot from the list above for the Reddit side, and bring Vibewatch in for Discord, Telegram, and everywhere else your community talks.

How to choose

  • Reddit-only, zero budget → Reddit Pro for research, F5Bot for alerts.
  • Multi-platform brand monitoring → Octolens if you sell to developers; Brand24 for general brands; Awario if price is the constraint.
  • You run a web3 community → Vibewatch. The conversation that decides your project's fate is happening inside your Discord and Telegram right now, and no Reddit tool — GummySearch included, even at its best — could ever see it.

GummySearch's shutdown is a reminder that the tools we depend on are only as durable as their data access. Whatever you pick next, pick something built on access that's meant to last.
